Tina Tang is a jewelry designer I came across several years ago while living in New York. I passed by her shop by accident while lost in the city, but her drive to make her business successful as well as her fun and creative designs kept me coming back. I was elated that she allowed me to interview her for this blog because like Fernanda Medina, she inspires me.

Here is what I found out from the inspirational designer:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 – All by Tina Tang

Inspiration…

I find inspiration from people who live their fullest life possible.  It was a blessing to have known once such individual named Nathaniel R. Dixon. He was family and today is a posting about a jewelry book he shared with me. Nat lived until he was 93 years young and he never took anything for granted, he even decided to remarry in his last year of life. He was craftsman of many trades, one of them being jewelry. I appreciated how he shared knowledge gleaned from years of life experience with those he loved. That is one reason this jewelry book means so much to me. It is a reference that designers should make apart of their vast libraries. I know I have found it useful.

You are missed Nat.

Papa’s Got A Brand New Bag…

I love the art of jewelry.  The creativity behind it and the details keep me coming back day after day.  This bag is no exception.

The design house of Hermès came up with this beautiful rose gold version of their well know “Kelly” handbag.  Designed by Pierre Hardy, each one incorporates thousands of diamonds and is small enough to be worn as a bangle.  Do not fret though lovelies, this design also functions as a true handbag albeit a very small one.  The bag took 2 years to create initially and there are only 12 of them in existence.  I am certain your black card will fit perfectly!

Price Tag:1.94 Million USD

Enjoy!

This Hermès Rose Gold Kelly bag will cost you a little less than 2 million dollars (cue Dr. Evil)

Mr. James Brown can take it from here…

Know When to Fold ‘em…

A co-worker has been teaching me the art of origami.  Wanting to see how far this art form could go, I found two designers from Paris who are creating origami jewelry creations.

The designers, Clair and Arnaud were initially introduced to the Japanese art form from their friend Masayuki Muraki.  Eventually they developed a collection of earrings using thread and paper.  Silver and gold were not far behind, and they soon began producing the collections in Japan.  Read more about Clair and Arnaud’s story here.

Both whimsical and delicate, you will find some of my favorites from their collections below.

Enjoy!
